North West Warwick Cycle Scheme – Lock Lane to Greenway

Works are progressing well and are currently on schedule, the old bridge has been removed and the remaining structure is being demolished.

As we move into the festive period works the works will temporally stop on site from the 20th December 2013 until the 6th January 2014. This break is normal for the construction industry and has been programmed into the works.

Warwickshire county Council will carrying out works on Lock Lane Footbridge and the footways along Woodloes recreational ground. This work is to improve Warwick’s cycle network.

The Scheme

The scheme involves widening existing footway route between Lock Lane and Greenway. Providing a minimum width of combined footway and cycleway of 3.0m. This includes replacing existing bridge at Lock Lane with a new 3.5m wide bridge.

Will the Footway be Closed?

Lock Lane Footbridge will be closed during the works. From 2nd Decemeber 2013 until 11th April 2014. The diversion route will be Lynton Close footpath, Lynton Close, South Deansway Footpath, Scar Bank Footbridge, Scar Bank, Millers Road, Lock Lane (and vice versa). This will be signed during the works.

What happens next?

CLM the contractor appointed by the County Council to carry out the work, will be on site in the next week for a period of approximately 4 months. During this period

  • Lock Lane Footbridge will be demolished and replaced;
  • Footways between Lock Lane and Greenway will be widened to 3.0m;
  • New section of footway/cycleway will be constructed across Woodloes recreation ground.
